kollmhn - Gold vs NG asset allocation

I'm a contrarian. NG prices are close to peaking (or will in a few months). By contrast gold is at multi-year lows with GREAT uncertainty about the future of the markets and the economy.

Does the phrase "risk/reward ratio" ring a bell?

Also, on market down days gold stocks have consistantly, but steadily advanced. Natural gas prices have almost doubled but many natural gas play have remained flat. I'd say shares of both are predicting where future prices will be in each commodity a year from now. The concern I have with natural gas plays is a recession.

In terms of natural gas shortages it's far from a sure thing. I'd go long gold for all the reasons I've stated in the past regardless, but a NG shortage could be the icing on the cake.

What's your portfolio asset breakdown and why?
