Tommaso -

...Can one get a better deal selling actual maple leaf coins in Canada than in the US? I mean, can you go into a branch of the Bank of Canada and hand them over without too much of a commission?) ...

For gold and silver legal tender coins, I presume that all
a bank will give you is the face value. You need to sell to a coin and precious metal dealer to realize something in the range of the spot metal content, which is MUCH higher in all cases at this time.

Tommaso:

As I know you know, next summer is an awfully long time into the future when dealing with the currency markets. (g)

Buying now suggests that you expect the U.S. dollar to fall against the Looney. I feel that way as well, but have been smacked a few times in the past when making that bet. It makes sense from a fundamentals point of view.

Your gold and Euro bias makes good sense to me.

I don't have any expertise on the selling of gold coins. Call the excellent guys at Friedberg on Toronto and they will give you better comments than I can. I'll PM the tel number if that is useful

Best, Earlie
