I'm not completely sure......brokers make calls through the day and ask clients what they want to do...bring in cash or sell...if they say sell then they are done mid day as the calls are made....if they say they will bring the cash in then they aren't sold until the next morning if the client doesn't bring the cash...so again, I think it depends on the policy of a the broker and when the client can be reached...if the client can't be reached by end of day...then the broker will likely dump the stock...
