chomolunga, RE: The falling dollar is not because of budding inflation but rather a function of a weakening US economy, the subsequent flight of capital and the coming interest rate differential as the Fed eases. So while a lower dollar will be slightly inflationary, it will not result in an overall increase in the rate of inflation - which is headed lower.

That's certainly a plausible (and fortunately much more optimistic) scenario than I painted.

That's the bad and good thing about economics. If you know what you're talking about, you can justify anything.
