I find it hard to believe that MSFT really hires only 1% of its interviewees. Are you sure that's not 1% of the resumes that they receive? That would be reasonable. Any high tech company gets a lot of throw-away resumes from engineer wannabes and whiteout-on-the-monitor-using computer operators, and I imagine that MSFT is no exception. But if they really make their employees sit around interviewing 100 applicants for every 1 that they hire, that means that they've interviewed over 4 million people just to find the 42,000 that they employ.

If they really do waste this much time flailing instead of weeding out the losers before the interview, SELL MSFT NOW!
