CB - ...As a graduate student studying Louisiana history, one of the things I learned was that the ties between Louisiana and France (and Spain) were weakened because the mercantile system was no competition for the Kaintucks coming downriver in their dugouts full of embargoed goods like flour which was ground somewhere other than the mills that paid royalties to the king (later Emperor).... Who were the Kaintucks? ...Freedom is great when it means throwing off the yokes of kings or emperors - and unfortunately for many it seems to stop there. The one thing that I remember from high school Social Studies class is the 'Tyranny of the Majority'. Regards, Don
