Dear Scumbria:

And Clinton wasted money on 100,000 cops for a year and required the localities to pick up the rest of the tab. Ditto for teachers. All the localities did was ignore the 2nd year and paid for 1 year, wasting all that money. Clinton wasted even more money than Reagan until the Republicans in Congress stopped him.

and anyway have you ever calculated the kinetic energy of a 30 foot nickel iron meteorite traveling at 100,000 miles per hour? It is impossible to make any significant change in an asteroids path, assuming that you could even hit an
object moving that fast. (Which of course you can't.)

It is not imposble to change a small astroids path. If the change is made early enough it does not have to be very large. It would be imposible to do this now. But if we start working on deleloping this capability now it would be quite possible in a couple of decades.

Reagan used to make up stories about welfare cheats stealing a few thousand dollars, and then go off and waste tens of billions on stupid projects like Star wars and the Ronnie Raygun/ Georgie Bush Superconducting Superporker outside of Dallas.

Reagan probably talked too much about welfare cheats, but such fraud should be stopped whenever possible. Missle defence is not stupid. The Superconducting Supercolider was not a stupid idea, it was however to expensive. This could have been realized much earlier in the progects planning which would have saved a lot of money.

Scumbria,

This isn't very fair but screw it. Oil hit a 7 month low yesterday around $26 per barrel. OPEC has said repeatedly that if oil falls below $28 per barrel, they will consider a production cut and most definitely, if the price falls below $24 per barrel.

So what does dubya do yesterday as oil is sliding below $26 but call up the Venezualan president (also the president of OPEC) and asked if OPEC would increase production. This has been such an issue....Clinton made several attempts (one of which was successful) to get oil production increased as the price per barrel began to exceed $35....its been in all the media, both print and online, for months now.

I can only conclude that dubya's problem is that he doesn't read or listen to any of the media.

Scumbria,
What do you think of the hot fusion project? A black hole that should be shut down?
