Yes, it looks like a rounding bottom formation, it does look more like a buy now than I've seen in many years... I think that's only because gold is traded in U.S. Dollars and the dollar is weaker theses days... I don't think gold itself is a buy, only gold traded in dollars is a buy..... gold may be the perfect short if it were traded in Swiss Francs or some currency that is currently stronger than the dollar, for example.....
