Fujitsu May Buy Small U.S. Makers of Optical Network Parts

Tokyo, Dec. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Fujitsu Ltd., Japan's biggest computer maker, said it may buy small U.S. companies with proprietary optical communications technology to help it compete against Nortel Networks Corp. in the U.S. market.

Gustaf, do you have any thoughts regarding your Dec. 21 post.

For me, the first thing that comes to mind is, thats interesting to know Fujitsu's intentions, but thats all, that is made clear.

As a investor, It would seem that my interests would be better rewarded, if Avanex stays independent, a pure play.

As for management at Avanex, the sale of their disruptive technology, to a broad range of customers, might go easier if they remain independent, as opposed to being in the pocket of a major player, with a pre-existing vested interests, that may run counter to other large customers of Avanex.
