ot-we know cree's plans for expansion and growth...you can see the building expansion happening at cree HQ. it is quite visible and nearly complete. cree's goal in this current phase is to increase production at least 8x. the next phase is scheduled to begin in 2001, just as soon as the current 2 buildings are fully completed. the new products exist. they are waiting for the facitities to be completed so production can begin. i have seen them. i have held them. i have examined an operating cree blue laser under a microscope...i assure you, it is real and it works. i have seen and held the new bright LEDs. the brightness hurt my eyes. i have held the rf device and discussed it in detail with the engineer. it is real, and it is complete and in production. it is a very small but complete package that outperforms the competition, will last many x longer, will sell for less, and earn cree higher margins than the 50+% cree now enjoys from LEDs. cree has a ton of cash flow and cash, exceptionally high product demand(customers on allocation), new products fully developed. more products nearing completion, new production just about to come on line and another 88 acres already paid for to build the next production campus. cree has a fabulous customer list. here are a few names: sony mercedes benz rohm siemens ge osram bmw volkswagon audi nokia nasa usaf cree is not a bio-tech or a new tech company in the development stage. cree is not fluff...this is a meat and bones company with developed products, new products, 17 consecutive quarters of high growth and software like margins. cree is sitting on the cutting edge of new light technology, the new DVD technology, and 3G RF technology. Gilder talks much about the powercosm. does he know the role that cree SiC plays? SiC is an essential ingredient in the new power switching devices that will reduce current loss by 5% and increase reliability. cree has already announced new switch products with kensai electric of japan and abb of sweden. SiC LEDs rule the world of white light, producing awesome energy savings in every application using them. this what the powercosm is all about. demand for SiC products in the ceo's own words are "off the charts". this is disruptive innovation at its best. cree produces 95% of the world's high quality SiC. all potential competitors are years behind. the pretty blue ribbon wrapping this entire package is a huge patent portfolio. unclewest
