GDP Is Revised Downward to 2.2%,
The Slowest Rate in Four Years
A WSJ.COM News Roundup

WASHINGTON -- The economy registered the slowest growth in four years last quarter as inventories piled up and foreign demand for U.S. goods fell.

Separately, weekly jobless claims jumped higher than expected, further adding to signs the economy is slowing.

Third-quarter gross domestic product rose at a revised 2.2% pace, the Commerce Department reported Thursday in its final revision to the GDP data. Last month the Commerce Department estimated GDP, a measure of all goods and services produced in the U.S., at a 2.4% pace, down sharply from the 5.6% pace set in the second quarter.
