dogpile bought in august 99 for 40 mill in stock and 15 mil cash I believe.....I am working on what are the differences...I know dogpile does location based seacrh which is cool...other than that not sure it has any pluses over metacrawler...guess who thinks metacrawler is number one....management...the same folks who made dogpile the search engine for infospace, hypermart and 100hot

under why you should put advertisements on metacrawler, go2net's old advertisement for advertising says this

"MetaCrawler® is consistently rated the number-one metasearch service on the Web, thanks to fast, relevant search results. MetaCrawler queries the top search engines, eliminates duplicates, scores the results and returns a list of relevant sites. The result is better overall Web coverage and thus, a better chance that users will find what they're looking for. "
