Don't be sure about that it was a great move. I have never heard of Great Plains before, but I would suspect that some european companies, that until now have been very MSFT friendly, are seriously considering not to be that any more.

For instance, there is a serious lack of business systems in the low end of the Linux market. Most european business systems can easily be made to run with Linux, some of them (like Navision Financials), already run perfectly with Linux/Wine, although the companies would never admit it. I think this will change now.
