Some things to consider: These companies are buying turbines at the peak of demand.. Top dollar GE will have tremendous exposure over the years if the technology of some of these units does not hold up well. Or on the other hand the operators will have even greater exposure namely to downtime. At what price NG price does an existing coal plant beat a CC plant? Many of these plants will have a hard time if electric demand in their market requires they compete with existing coal plants. I hope to finish school and get back to work in this field before long. Once I am back on the inside I will have a better idea of how to play the players. But execution is the name of game and getting the plants online and commercial is a major task. Strategy on how they market the power and NG is another issue to get a feel for. But getting info on the inside of what type technology is suffering can be good insight into earnings disasters.
