text to speech is well known & not high margin. if nuance does not have it probably is better as it would not be a huge value add to own such a business when you could just license it. actually, many businesses actually pre record text that remains the same over time. tellme does this for example.

Yes, Nuance has signed with Fonix(FONX) for the use of its TTS technology. Didn't have to purchase a company to get it, won't have to develop it themselves. Many others are going with FONX for TTS, as apparently it is very good, and ready to go.
