In the boat house, which is only 2 foot from the water and I will just put down a plank for the ramp down to the ice. We have a couple 55 gallon drums welded up for the fire box/steam maker. It can cook it over 200F if you put it to the test.

It shouldn't be a lot of work, normally, but this year got so damn cold early and stayed that way. The oil price drop is loonie, considering.

Anyway, the chain saw we have has a bar that is about 39 inches long, a big one, but I'm wondering if that will make it all the way through without doing side cuts. Now that would be a lot of work. And I have to keep it 10 foot large because when you hit the water you are totally lost due to all the things your body is doing. A small hole and if you were to move under the ice that thick you would be a dead duck if someone didn't find you right off. -ng- Someone that is in a state of temperature shock just like the victim. And I'm not bringing along my diving suits to play lifeguard. -g-

And we don't let the aged guys do it as their ticker would likely stop for good. The kids really love it though. You can talk kids into anything stoopit. -g-
