I have gone to some concerts of the Annapolis Symphony, but it is an inferior orchestra

I used to enjoy visiting these sorts of orchestras. Some of them are really good considering their resources. The last performance I did was with just such an orchestra (Shost. 2), and those guys whipped the thing off like nothing. Strings were weak, as is typical with these orchestras, but they made it. They ended with Mahler 1. There were intonation problems here and there, especially at the exposed beginning, but the performance was so exuberant no one seemed to care. Toward the end of the last movement the entire brass section stood and blasted the roof off. People were yelling. It was exciting. Some of the little orchestras can be very good. Maybe Annapolis just needs a new director.

Its dinnertime. Nice chattin’
