In addition to tax loss selling, I believe that the msft announcement recently about an earnings shortfall created tremendous tech stock foreboding and this is hurting all tech stocks. Why I think sentiment on msft is so important is that for 90 95 99% of the technically ignorant a msft based computer is major part of their exposure to high tech. Even some 60 to 80% of technically moderately literate has this same pervasive exposure. So if msft is going south then the entire tech world is going south. As you know Don I've been negative on msft because of Linux. But Linux is just one problem in reducing the growth of OS sales money for msft.
Msft is also trying to expand into internet services and they are more or less equal players and I don't see a way for them to capture this area like msft captured PC os and office apps. msft is a shrinking monpoly power in the areas they dominated and do not have the same competitive/product edge suited to task advantage in other areas where msft is trying to expand. So I see stagnant or very slow growth and msft is/was priced with a P/E based on revenue growth.
I also don't see msft being able to expand well anywhere outside the US as anti American/msft bigotry exists. Linux will expand much more in these areas. This may mean that tech stocks stay out of favor for an extended period. So buyer beware.

If one's believes msft is technology one get's out of technology. I dig for more cash to buy into more technology stocks.

Finally, the week between Christmas an the New Year sees the liquidity of the market dry up as many think of sugar plums and such. This is the week to really look for bargains.

sgi, elnk lor eggs are where I'm putting every nickel and dime I can lay my hands on.(next week?) But there are dozens of others out there.
