RS - More from the SK Telecom site.

SK Telecom and the collaborating companies won as many as 94 patents in the process of developing the core technologies for the asynchronous system, with 110 pending. SK Telecom said that the process had greatly contributed to improving the technological capabilities of the small startup companies. The company has invested 123.3 billion won for R&D in the past year and intends to invest additional 100 billion won in small technology startups next year.

I wonder if this has anything at all to do with their W-CDMA decsion?

Pls take a look at the SK Telecom site. Why is there no refernce to QCOM or 1X?

Best regards,

L

RS Any ideas?- The CDMA 1X deployment is BIG news. For it to be kept quiet is like the British Royal Family kept its mentally ill family members secret and never mentioned them.
What is so terrible about cdma2000 1x that is currently being deployed in 29 or so major Korean cities and that is going to be over the entire country next year and makes Korea the most advanced wireless coutry in the World.

So WHY is all this under wraps by all three SPs? WHY?

WHY is cdma2000 1X such an embarrasement? What about the hardware manufacturers in Korea? They have an interest in this. Where are they?

Why is there only one handset currently on sale for 1X?

Where are the articles showing how great this new service is? Where is an article in the Korea Herald talking about this great new service and describing it and how it works? They are a newspaper and surely they want to trumpet Koreas coup in being the first? And anyway newspapers need good and interestin articles why not do an article on this the only 3G service in the entire World and it is on their doorstep, indeed it is in their building and in their homes at least in Seoul it is.

Lastly has anyone on this planet actually seen this in operation in Seoul? Is there a single report or article or wire by someone who has actually seen it.

What no earth is going on? This is like the search for the Yetti.

I am in the twilight zone.

Best regards,

L

RS- The Greatest Rip-off in History -

GSM Roaming Charges - British based mobile customer...Current rates:_

While in the US:-

Receieved from Britain - $2.52 per minute (plus 17%VAT)
Made to Britain - $2.24 per minute (plus 17%VAT)
Local call in Texas - $1.57 per minute (plus 17%VAT)

While in Hong Kong

Received from Britain - $2.52 per minnute(plus 17%VAT)
Made to Britain from $1.08 per minute
to $2.94 per minute

While in Germany

Received from Britain - $1.28 per minute (plus 17%VAT)

Some businesses can reclaim the VAT.

Now we know why Korean SPs want to be in the GSM game. This GSM business is the Worlds greatest ever robbery.

G* doens't look so expensive now and presumably SPs aren't very interested in promoting it.

Best regards,

L
