That of course, is false. Every bear market has left no sector untouched. If you can call Japan's ten year market stagnation as a bear market, there were many leaders who did very well over that time. I'm not saying it was easy to pick them out early, but Toyota and Sony are a couple that pretty much kicked ass during those years. Not every year obviously, but annualized. So sector-wise, yes, but company-wise seems as though there will typically be winners.
