Sarmad: We are in the high risk zone for a hard landing -- little growth and possibly negative growth. In this situation we are not likely to rally far. Obviously rate cuts will help -- but even here the lasting rally will take several cuts -- little reason to expect a rally. As for which stocks to buy, the issue may be which stocks to avoid -- and the JNPRs and Yahoos of the world are a good place to start. Their valuations depend on growth that now looks somewhere between dicey and unlilely. The whole habit of buying on the basis of "next years" earnings is bogus at this point. Look at trailing earnings, assume little if any growth, and ask yourself if your would pay the multiple for that stock. Doing exactly this was enough to have Wh wave his magic wand and use SI to chose who can and cannot speak. You might consider it a small matter -- I don't know. But ask yourself what other medium -- and especially this one -- benefits from that form of denial of free speech.
