Mike--

is there a point when a [gorilla] can only expand its market opportunities by competing with its partners?

reherring takes a different tack on Intc--"Did Intel Blow It?". It lays the blame for the Itanic's tortuous history in part to Intc's frantic search to diversify into Web hosting, communications hardware and software, and information appliances. In other words, Intel threw people at the problem, but took its eye off the ball--which was to defend first of all its ticket to Main Street. redherring.com
