On the other hand, you can't use Norton Systemworks with Win2K Server. Bummer.

Question 1) Is it possible to use Windows 2000 Server as a Professional Workstation?

Yes, but unless you need the extra features that Server provides, the overhead isn't worth it (see below).

1) Fault Tolerance

It's software RAID. Not recommended, especially on IDE drives without a dedicated hardware controller.

2) Services that can be enabled or disabled

You can do that with 2000 Professional through the Services applet in Computer Management

3) NTFS and Active Directory

NTFS should always be used whether it's a Pro or Server install. And AD is only useful in a large organizational install with many servers, and many clients. For home use, it's a can of worms you don't want to open unless you are studying the OS in depth.

4) Multiple swap partitions

Not sure what this means.

5) Unlimited incoming users

Windows 2000 Professional is limited to 10 client connections at a time. Once again, this is a moot point for a home computer.

Pardon my $0.02 cents... :)
