Amy,

re: This is a really hard time in the markets, the hardest I've seen in my life

"I recall my financial instructor had said the 70's yielded a net decrease of 40% over ten years, when factoring in inflation."

I didn't have much money in that market (or much money at all) in the 70's. I imagine now, if you were 20 something years old, and living paycheck to paycheck, the current market situation wouldn't be high on your list of important events.

re: "John, I think this is going to be a short-term pullback. Nothing fundamental is wrong, other than a PE pullback and a normal cycle."

I heard someone, somewhere say that if the Nasdaq were to return 22% compounded, YOY, it would take three years to get back to the highs. If it returned 11%, six years. (please don't hold me to these numbers, they may be right or wrong).

The point I'm making is that this is serious, real money, that is gone. Confidence has been shaken. We may or may not see the Nasdaq come back in the next year, five years or ten years.

John

Remember my post? I am glad you agree! gg However, I won't take todays market seriously! Not news driven.
Kind regards
