M A R K E T..S N A P S H O T--Small upside in store for shares

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) - U.S. markets are hoping for a Santa Claus rally Friday, with some modest gains expected at the open.

March S&P 500 futures added 5.00 points, or 0.4 percent, but were trading right around fair value, according to HL Camp & Co. Nasdaq futures, meanwhile, gained 32.50 points, or 1.4 percent.

Over in the bond market, the 10-year Treasury note lost 1/4 to yield ($TNX) 5.05 percent while the 30-year government bond erased 10 /32 to yield ($TYX) 5.42 percent.

Friday's economic docket includes the release of November personal income, seen rising 0.4 percent, and personal consumption expenditures, expected to rise by 0.3 percent. View Economic Preview, economic calendar and forecasts and historical economic data.

Cornering the currency market, dollar/yen edged up 0.1 percent to 112.29 while euro/dollar rallied 0.9 percent to 0.9236.
