JF3, I think it is a bad time to be short right now. There will be money flowing back into tech, financials, cyclicals in anticipation of a rate cut.

The tax loss selling is just about over. I don't know if I mentioned this earlier on this thread but tax loss selling is usually done by about Dec 23 (according to CNBC's Pissani who cited a study). Makes sense, get it over with before the holidays.

To me that means buying of beaten up stocks; techs and possibly telcos right now, going into 2001.
Defensive stocks may drop early in the year but I do believe they will also bounce as new money comes into the market and it will not just be concentrated in tech...unlike early 1999.

I am basically long tech, financials and cyclicals.
