Toscano, I think that Poet said she'd be away for a few days. Before she gets back and scolds us, according to my understanding of the rules of engagement, it is not appropriate for the likes of you and me to be debating on this thread.

I think we probably need to offer loans, secured by the government to help SMALL businessmen (I don't want to see more handouts to megabusiness, they get quite enough). Ia also think- if the cleanup is mandated because of new regs, simply because ideas have changed- and there was no carelessness or negligence on the part of the small businessman- that the government could pick up 1/2 of the cleanup- as well as providing low cost loans. Now that simply means you and I will be helping to pay for the cleanup- but since we all benefit from cleaning up the environment- that is probably fair.

My gosh! I went off to compose a public response to your cement truck issue and by the time I got back there were 90 new posts on the thread. Fortunately, they were of such substance that it didn't take long to go though them.

In contrast, however, my response looks really wonkish so I'll PM it instead.
