I did an informal study, in 1995. Over a 5 week period, I counted the number of times the words 'right wing', left wing or extreemist was used with reference to gop or Dem. It was 17 to 1. I guess all the democrats are middle of the road moderates. ;-)

This was probably slightly skewed since 50% of my listening time was NPR. Other major outlets were CNN and NBC. Still it is pretty telling.

The littany of criticisms of the economy which Clinton used against Bush Sr. could have been used by GW against ClintonGore as almost all of those measures have worsened over the last eight years. Examples: the so-called gap between the rich and the poor, the number of large corporate mergers, the size of the deficit. W was at least too classy to use them.
