Anyway worst play EVER: Just learning options... could've been the greatest beg. luck play of all time. Quite naively I'm looking to make huge short term bet in Sunbeam puts due to rumors that Chainsaw AL may have cooked books. Stock has taken a hit already day before but only on rumors. With half-hour left till close story breaks out that Chainsaw Al is fired. With five minutes left in day SOC still has not fallen more than 10%! I attempt to buy 50 put contracts that expire in like a week (so I could get most bang for buck if steep fall in next five days). I've had enough experience to know bid/ask spreads in options of thinly traded securities KILL you in a market order. I enter a limit order via online broker with 4 minutes left in day. Message comes back ' cannot trade this many contacts online call your Fidelity representative.' OH MY GAWD! I'm going to be frozen out of the greatest put play ever. I frantically call Fidelity get a rep and tell him I want a limit order for 50 contracts after he tells me current ask SHREWDLY I make limit order for 1/8 less than ask to show those greedy MMs how tres hip I am to their games. LITERALLY I and broker spend next minute and half on phone together waiting for fill. NEVER comes. Next day 30% plus drop and more to come. let's just say tens of thousands missed. EASY money. That began a progression that put large dent in my IRA in stupid option plays trying to recreate that scene. By the way, Sunbeam trades for 3/8 a share today and has a total mrkt cap of 40 million left. RO
