No I think it is a limitation as a corporeal being and that I'm so inseparable from time, it pervades my imagery. I can "visualize" multidimensional volumes by playing mind games. I've done this with up to 7 dimensions but it is done 3 dimensions at a time. The trick is to imagine the function as a solid like a bead on a curtain rod and having it morph as you slide it left or right, up or down, back and forth or over "time". This metaphor has some application, but a "true" understanding of the space is lacking because of the dimensional collapse technique I'm using. There could be multi-axial relationships that would be obvious if I was a seven dimensional creature, but I'm unlikely to find because of my primitive visualization technique. I'm hamstrung by the technique, I suppose. But it does allow me to visualize systems of high complexity. The problem is mistaking the metaphor for the real thing. It is a common mistake. I've made the claim that Christians have misunderstood what Jesus meant when he said "I am the way!". I would absolutely agree if it was the "I" inside all of us, but not if he was only talking about himself. If he wanted to communicate my interpretation, how would he have communicated that in a way that could not be misunderstood? I don't think it is possible because he would have had to use metaphor. Similarly, I think the parables and stories in the bible attempt to transmit a message but part of the cultural dictionary is missing. I've heard this was the case with the translation of "virgin" as a literal person who hasn't had coitus. The cultural meaning was broader and meant "unmarried young woman". THAT makes a lot more sense than the other meaning.
