So Greenspan is meeting with California Governor to discuss the impending energy crisis in California as most of their utilities face bankruptcy. The Fed is concerned with economic policy and Monetary policy in Particular. Why would such ameeting occur unless it is to bail out the utilities a la LTCB?
Would it not be easier to cut rates and allow the market to finance them? Is this going to be the excuse as to why they do cut rates?
Am I crazy, deluded, mad or just a dreamer?

Chip,
This situation is very bad on the West Coast. The Sec. of Energy ordered the Pacific NW to sell our power (& our reserves are very low) to CA, but they are not able to pay for it. A crisis is definitely building.
