I had a similar experience a few years ago with Waterhouse. My balance was credited $25k for the sale of some convertible mortgage instrument that I had no knowledge of. I contacted Waterhouse and reported the error. They assured me that there was no error and that the money was indeed mine. I consulted with a few friends in the industry and they advised me to close the acct. and RUN!!! LOL In my heart I knew the money was not mine and that sooner or later Waterhouse would discover the error and contact me. It took them a few months, unbelievable, but they did figure it out and wanted their money back. I had not closed the acct., but I sure wasn't going to let the money just sit there. I was fully invested and told them tough *&$%@! when they wanted their money back. I didn't mind arguing with them since I had called and reported their error and I had been told not to worry about it. Sorry Charly!!! Well...I didn't get to keep the money, and I didn't expect to, but Waterhouse did give me some consideration for my incovenience. True story. CHK and OEI (which I own) mentioned in natural gas feature in today's Barrons. Story is based on the divergence between the price of NG and the price of (sill undervalued) NG stocks. I was reading in another article about manufacturing companies in the West discontinuing their operations in order to sell their ration of previously contracted electricity...at a 400% profit. In other words, these mfg. co's are going to be more profitable by doing nothing!!! Here's the Barron's list mentioned above: MONDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2000 Who Has The Cheapest Natural Gas?
