i think there'll be a little more short covering by the close. i see eager call buyers jumping on practically every uptick...and the VIX still won't give. so likely no big fireworks today with the bulk of the rally holding imo, but who knows...the FTSE had a stunning closing collapse today, giving back 160 points in half an hour or so. anyway, the continued complacency doesn't bode well. that said, the day after the X-mas holidays has a statistically enviable record: it was up in 22 of the past 29 years.
if that stat reads 22/30 on Tuesday i'd regard that as a noteworthy development. it would say that not even the low volume, easy to push up, positioning for the January effect day can save this mess.

btw, the NAZ has been up 100% of the time on the last trading day of the year since its inception.
