To be as charitable as I can manage to be; I believe that you have missed the entire point: Go into any of the major retail outlets and you will find that the AMD offerings vastly out number those from inteL at the high end...and by a huge margin. AMD is using price as a driving force to "buy the market" and managing to stay profitable while it is driving inteL's ASPs down significantly. Warren Buffet (who admits to not knowing, understanding, and buying "tech") says "buy what you can see." If you go out there, you will see AMD at the "high end" of the consumer space...everywhere!
