i never thought that a friendly (or at least such was the intent on my part) exchange of ideas was damaging to the thread, i have no idea where or how you came up that such exchange would be damaging to the thread. Toscano, I was reacting to the discussion early this week resulting in the header being changed to remove the language that had said it was ok for non-liberals to play here. This is what Poet said about the thread: "WTF is so terribly wrong with having a place to hang out with fellow liberals on SI..." And this: "It is a hangout for liberals to talk amongst ourselves about these issues, to see where and how our individual mindests touch or do not intersect each other." Ylang even set up another thread for debates that weren't completely sympathetic to a liberal point of view. our current exchange does not bode well for my opinion of bureaucrats All bureaucrats are constantly cognizant of process and procedures and roles and turf and authority. Looks like I erred when I took it upon myself to interpret the rules and suggested to you that you and I, as non-liberals, should not be having that discussion on this thread. That is Poet's role. And I apparently did it inelegantly, to boot, or you would have realized that my intent was both friendly to you and and teasing the thread about the rule change. I don't see how a friendly exchange of ideas can be damaging to a thread, either. I love a good discussion. But it's their thread and if they don't want to see posted any dissenting perspectives from outliers, then I will respect that and keep my point of view to myself or take it elsewhere. all i was interested was in your opinion as someone who says that works for the government. I had planned to respond to your post in a PM later when I had more time. Guess I should have said so. Karen
