Poking around in after hours, I noticed this. Might be up
your alley....

Stock rarely trades more than a few thousand shares until
today, wonder what the rush for the exit on Tuesday will do
to the stock......

WEST BEND, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 22, 2000--Gehl Company
(Nasdaq: GEHL) acknowledged it had received and reviewed an amended
Schedule 13D filing that Newcastle Partners, L.P. and CIC Equity
Partners, Ltd. filed today, which included a letter purporting to be
an offer to acquire the company. The company noted that its Board of
Directors has considered over the past several months the views
Newcastle and CIC have expressed as part of the Board's ongoing review
of long-term value creation strategies for the company and its
shareholders. Throughout this process, as in the past, the Board has
consistently reaffirmed its belief that the company's business
strategy, pursued as an independent public company, presents the best
alternative to maximize long-term shareholder value.
The company noted that the purported offer submitted by Newcastle
and CIC is subject to a multitude of contingencies and conditions,
most notable of which is the offerors' admitted lack of any financing
for the transaction. Based on the Board's view that it is in the best
interests of shareholders for the company to remain an independent
public company, Gehl Company intends to pursue this path vigorously.
The company does not intend to pursue a transaction with Newcastle or
CIC or to otherwise respond to their letter.
