Re: What do others think of the 50% number ? What will drive it to 50%

I know I'm answering my own question here, but here are a few thoughts on what might drive WIND's share of the Intel XScale business.

1. WIND and Intel have an XScale Centre of Excellence. I'm not sure if the XScale CoE work is exclusively IOP's and NP's. I'm assuming there's some carry over into the wireless space. Also, EST (WIND acquisition) seems to be playing it's part in getting early XScale designs up and running.

2. On pages 6 and 7 of the Intel XScale white paper it makes reference to two different types of XScale implementations. One is the "Integrated" implementation and the other is the "Modular" implementation. In the Integrated implementation the radio code and application code share the same microprocessor resources. According to one of the diagrams the Integrated implementation has "software protected partition between applications and radio code". This type of Implementation seems ideal for VxWorks AE, i.e. WIND's patented "Protection Domains" technology.

5. As far as I'm aware Intel have a license from QCOM to produce CDMA chips. This was obtained from the DSPC acquisition last year. I'm not 100% sure about this, can anyone confirm ?
