The mentality of both long and short-term investors/traders about bull and bear markets is something that I personally take with a grain of salt. It truly makes no difference to me whether the markets are rising or falling. Neither markets nor stocks move in either direction in a straight line. They always tend to move in a saw-toothed pattern, the more volatile the moves the better I like it.

It is not only possible but also every bit as easy to make money in a falling market playing only the long side of the trade.

Can you see the $10 to $20 upswings in the above stock in both it's rising as well as it's falling trends? I play short-term mini bull trends only.

For the market watchers among us we are about to enter a technical mini NASDAQ rally.

A 4-year chart shows the history making solid move above the 2000 level after a bear market, which followed the first failed attempt. History tends to repeat itself. A double test of the next bottom will have to occur to confirm the next long lived leg up just as the double attempt at the 5132 level was twice tried before we moved back to current levels.

All of the above is only meant as some food for thought.
