Grin...sounds like you are drifting a little Clintonian on us ......you know as in ...."most ethical administration in history".....and... "10-ton press to extract a drop of juice"....the fault on the oranges might lay with the way they are handled in shipment. Sounds like they have been frozen.

I got in an orange fight with some Spaniards in Seville one time. In a square with orange trees all around it.

An orange flew past my head. We looked over and saw a bunch of Spanish dudes laughing. I think they thought we were Brits or Canooks or something-- that we could not throw.

So, 3 US guys and 2 US chicks and 1 Spanish dude took on about 10 crazy Spaniards.

We won-- I had about 4 head shots and a bunch of body shots. Then the policia came and we all ran away.

You are correct-- those Spanish oranges were a lot more juicy than Florida oranges. Hell, I could kill someone with a Florida orange...

Dear DMA: There are MANY types of oranges. I grew up in ORANGE COUNTY FL and spent my young years in orange groves so I know something about them. The sweetest, thinnest skinned oranges are VALENCIAS. I dont know what type of orange you had but I suspect it was picked too soon or else it was mishandled in shipment. Living in Fl. of course I have never even heard of a Spanish orange but I can tell you I see no reason for the same TYPE of orange to taste any different from one area to the other all other things equal. Oranges require a certain temp. and irrigation range but not too fussy about soil. Why not come on down and have a FRESH ORANGE. If you drive, when you arrive at the state come to the visitor center, we will GIVE you your first glass of fresh FLA. orange juice. JDN
