It does not accuse you of racism because it believes it to be true, but rather because it gives the left status and power. Cummings: If you read the Ashcroft piece I posted, you'll see that Ashcroft waffled on gun control ... expressing concern over too many gun whackos packing Saturday Night Specials in '92, then saying six years later that, by gumbo, it's our God-given right to do so. I thought all Repubs were consistent in that they are not inconsistent? What gives? In any event, it appears that the right wing of the GOP is happy with the appointment of Ashcroft, the Bible-thumpin', gospel-singin', revival-fires lawyer from the Ozarks to head up our Justice Department. There should be plenty of good stories in the newspapers about Ashcroft's attempts to "push the envelope" in various areas. Prediction: Dems will draw the line early on GWB's choices to fill vacant judgeships. Repubs in Senate, i.e. Ashcroft, held up many of Clinton's appointments simply on the basis of partisan politics. Expect Dems to do similar now that it's 50-50.
