I2, thanks for the excerpts on the war against cancer. Seems to me that overall little progress has been made despite the massive resources devoted to the war. I believe prevention issues have largely been ignored; instead the research institutions have tended to throw money at certain areas of research they feel are cool, while ridiculing those who would propose research in "nontraditional" areas. I just hope that despite the corruption that exists in this field, someone will find viable treatment for those who contract these diseases. But personally I feel that greater focus on prevention would give us a better bang for the buck. I would not donate to cancer research unless I were targeting a specific program that I felt has merit--there must be many out there, but I'm not familiar enough with the field to suggest anything. Oh yeah, this is the Brinker thread. I believe the comments made by Bob Brinker to millions expressing his strong feelings about tobacco will ultimately help to save many more lives than will hundreds of cancer researchers. Regards, Gary
