It is my belief that many of the lenders to the industry are involved in the hedging contracts. No way to play in other words. jimp may be able to enlighten further.

Enron is the largest, but they don't make out like a bandit, they make a market and take a spread. Anyone can buy contracts in the open market and go long on NG.
