This is for Adesa:

Just in case the Yahoo link doesn't stick. This rig report is good for the service companies, but bad for SFY. SFY is going to need a lot of rigs over the next few years.

Merry Christmas to all, and may your utility bills not jump to over $200 per month like mine just did.

Morningstar (Jan 11) Reports Nicholas Buying SFY

Not exactly hot off the press, but not noted here:

Nicholas Applegate Mini-Cap Growth Lagged in 2000
By Brian Portnoy

The momentum-oriented investors at Nicholas-Applegate Mini-Cap Growth (Nasdaq: NAMCX - news) got their comeuppance in 2000. Due to its large technology holdings (sometimes more than half of the fund) it suffered through a predictably bumpy ride last year, shedding 20.7% of its value. That trailed not only most of its small-growth rivals, but also most other funds specializing in micro-cap investing.

In response to the market turmoil, lead managers John McCraw and Tom Bleakley have reshaped the portfolio. First, they have cut the fund's tech stake, which now sits at about one quarter of the portfolio. Meanwhile, energy stocks have taken a more-prominent position in the fund. Management has built up positions in names such as oil-and-gas company Swift Energy (NYSE: SFY - news) and Patterson Energy (Nasdaq: PTEN - news), a contract driller.
