Bill, Yes, I knew that Chaste owns Brown & Co. which is one of 1000 reasons why no brokerage account of mine ever creeps beyond SIPC limits. <g>

Your Leaps will be pro-rated with the new stock. It can make for some odd strike prices. You should see the hodgepodge of weird strikes I have from Ancor after it merged into Qlogic. But they remain fungible.

I do think MBIA and Ambac are good puts here. FGIC, too, if it wasn't part of GE. I do not think any of these cos. are likely to go belly up, but I can see that "steady growth" rate interrupted for awhile, which is good enough for a nice pop on the puts.

It is odd to think of PG&E and Southern Calif. Edison approaching bankruptcy. My late father worked for SCE when I was in second and third grades. And, my Mother has lived in Houston for 10 years now, and she still calls her monthly bill from Houston Power and Lighting the "PG&E bill." <g>
