From the astrological standpoint, it does not necessarily mean that if an eclipse occurs on a certain date, then significant things are bound to happen on that date. (Dramatic events immediately following an eclipse in the sky is the stuff of popular fiction and comic books.)
On the contrary, very often an eclipse is just a harbinger of things to come. I am not an expert on the subject, but I have read that, as to when and how things play out, much depends on the angle of elevation and declination of the luminaries and their signs and aspects etc. In a sense, there's method in the madness, if you will.

It is true that the markets are bound for an upswing after such a long downtrend. FWIW, some astrologers have interpreted the signs to indicate that the year-end rally will not be sustainable in January and February 2001. It seems that upsurges will cause people to buy but they will be very disappointed later.

I know what some folks are thinking: surely we don't need the mumbo-jumbo/hocus-pocus of astrology to tell us what is going to happen when an upswing seems long overdue. But it seems they are missing what astrologers have noticed since time immemorial--- that there is a correspondence between planetary configurations and world events---- and that astrologers regularly apply their knowledge of planetary configurations (based not on random but on highly predictable periodic planetary motion) to help their friends/clients "look" ahead.

But remember: "The stars incline, they do not compel." And so, sometimes (or too often, as the naysayers would say) the prediction fails to come true.
