We know the term “Bible Thumper” is a pejorative term, especially when used by an adversary. And it does not matter that people have been called worse. The fact is, we ought not employ religious insults if we want to foster an environment wherein we outwardly respect the religions of others.

When others employ such terms as “Bible Thumper” they know precisely what they do. Just as I know what I do when I say Christmas did not originate with a pagan holiday. Christmas superceded pagan rubbish, as it should. That is the nature of Christ, to overcome worthlessness, giving Life to what is dead.

Now of course there was a better way to tell you this truth. I could have shown greater respect for worthless paganism. I could have shown respect for liberal heathenism and all other inferior non-Christian beliefs and celebrations. But I didn’t, and for one reason only. To make the point that Open Season should not apply only to Christians, but to everyone, if it has to apply to anyone. As freely as others throw around the term “Bible Thumper,” I may call others reprobate, sodomite, godless, heathen, godless heathen, godless Mormon, heathen Buddhist, savage Hindu, etc. And then I may turn right around and claim I didn’t mean any harm by these terms, doing all this as freely and as openly as the evil spirit moves. It is best we just refrain from this sort of barbarism if we do not want it applied to us.

I’m taking a nap. Once again, Merry CHRISTmas.

JDN,

Yet , isn't it great how the God Almighty can use ANY day or any custom for people to remember Jesus the Christ?
