EDIT at Bottom
There are all kids of funymetalist, like in Love or
Religion the funymetals are for the most part in the
eyes of some faithful beholder. The big picture I see can change however the gain/loss
in value of Commercial real estate is about as good
a longer term indication of the over all health of the market as I can picture.
----------------
If I use that as a bench mark ( and it's up about 54%
in the last 4 years I can assume that in time water
does find it's own level )
As a bench mark It makes the S&P slightly undervalued
at this time, S&P should be about 1515...
But it makes the NDX way over valued.
& I don't even want to say how much.
---------------
For the BIG picture;
Real estate, not gold or oil or anything else
it's in the value of real estate taht one
finds were we have been and are going.
54% in 4 yrs ( less inflation , & interest rates )
still makes the risk/reward of the market
the place to have been.
Recently real estate value has turned up and I find
that encouraging. However the emphasis on growth over
profits has been and is still to strong in the tech
sector.
Jim
EDIT lets say the tech sector can sustain a 5% growth
rate over and above the bench mark, more than that
and there isn't enough money to hold it.
Taht would make the NDX worth about 74% more than
it was in 97 ..or about 1900.
