Yahoo Messenger for Voice Comm

Steve and Limtex,

I have been using Yahoo Messenger for the best part of a year, communicating with my son who lives in Valencia, Spain.

I have found the quality of the sound to be extremely good from the speakers attached to my PC. In fact, more than once, my wife thought my son was in the room with me.

One disadvantage, as Steve said, is a delay in the transmission at times. Even when the delay occurs, there is nothing missing because when the transmission resumes, it takes off right where it left off. At times, when the internet is busy, the delays occur quite frequently and are too great in length to make conversation enjoyable.

Another limitation, unless Yahoo has upgraded recently, is that only one person can transmit at a time, so it is necessary to invite the other person to talk with "over".

I have also talked with my daughter, who lives in Athens, Greece, using Yahoo Messenger. The results were not as good.

Regards

NHP
