By definition, nobody can prove religion is true, or a crock of shit- because that answer (or lack thereof) only occurs after everyone is dead. So being an agnostic is the only rational answer. However, it is an undisputable fact that many people find comfort in self-delusion, especially when it comes to death and suffering and unanswerable questions. I'll give the religious folks that much, at least.
