I had a friend once whose family moved to the United States from Formosa after the KMT took over. They are native Formosans. I usually called the island Tiawan, but they never will. We in the US don't understand Asian politics or our politics for that matter. Non Americans are more astute about power and politics in general then most of us Americans are.

--I have never believe that there is any percentage to politics or war.--

that's profound, and i imagine as well - spoken like a true citizen of hong kong. forgive me if i'm mistaken in that assumption.

your insight here is well-appreciated.

Taiwan's life blood is gushing and flowing to China, in the form of capacity for textiles, chemicals, construction, chip making and properties

Most Taiwanese business people more or less have to do business in China, although some have ties with parties to advocate for Taiwan independence. I personally don't see any advantage for the Taiwan Chinese to declare independence, because they could lose more business opportunities in the mainland. BTW, most older generation of Taiwan businessmen were born in the mainland. It is a matter of the new generations who are born locally to think differently from their parents. Some of them may want to become a national hero of some sorts....you know.
